Friday night I had the supreme honor of seeing Adele (myspace) sing at The Wiltern. Her performances left me speechless…

Although I felt her set was far too short, I was amazed by how quiet the ENTIRE venue got when she sang. The Wiltern holds over 2,000 people and you could have heard a pin drop as Adele sang alone with her guitar.

Episode 186 was taped live in Los Angeles,
and that’s one thing that I just can’t pass up :)

Although we spent most of the show mingling with people, my friend and  fellow blogger Joce and I had a blast and really enjoyed the vibe at the Knitting Factory.
*Disclaimer, there’s lots of link love below… as such happens when you are at a web centered event*

Here’s some snaps from the night, which also marks the death of my newish camera… sadness. Somehow carrying a digital camera and 3″ stiletto heels in one handbag is incompatable with life.

Let’s hope the little elves at the Canon factory can fix my jammed lens
(oh, boy, that so applies to other things in my life… let’s just not go there)

It’s that time of year again, I’m helping raise funds for the American Cancer Society…. visit my ACS Webpage to make a donation or purchase daffodils.

Photobucket

Daffodil Days is a fun way to brighten your day with beautiful flowers and raise money to support the Society’s mission. As the first flower of spring and the official flower of the American Cancer Society, the daffodil is a symbol of hope, renewal, and the promise that one day cancer will no longer threaten the lives of those we love.

Your efforts truly make a difference in the fight against cancer.

In Memory of Julie Ann McKinney
Photobucket

By giving daffodils and other beautiful gifts to friends, family members, and even cancer patients, you’re really giving hope by enabling the Society to fund groundbreaking research and offer free information, day-to-day help, and emotional support to improve the lives of people facing cancer.

In Memory of Terry James Butler
Photobucket

I have a few close personal experiences that are driving my effort, and I’m sure you too have been affected in some way by cancer… it truly comes down to the work we do now that will free future generations from the pain and sadness associated with this nondiscriminatory disease.

In Memory of John Robert Wallace II

Please visit my ACS Webpage and make a donation, purchase a bouquet for yourself, or purchase a bouquet for someone who is fighting cancer here in my community. Please consider donating $5 or $10 to this very worthy cause, skip a lunch out or a latte and bring us one step closer to a cure!

Last year I shared flowers that people from all over the country had purchased for my friend Julie who had been fighting pancreatic cancer, and I can tell you first hand she was touched by how many people were sending love and encouragement to her… that type of joy and hope really deserves to be shared!

Obviously not all at once, but I have some pretty exciting events to attend in the next few months!

Grand Opening of the Trader Vic’s in LA
is coming up in March

Photobucket

A little breaking in of the new Trader Vic’s in Chicago is due as well
Photobucket
The countdown has begun… somewhere around 80 something days till I’m back in the Windy City!

Plus there’s a new tiki bar/restaurant Hula’s Island Grill (how fitting!) that is opening in Phoenix, plus I’ve got some wonderful friends in the city that deserve a little visit too…

I’ll be keeping an eye on the progress of construction and will announce when they open, they’ve got Tiki Tony lined up already to carve for them, so you know it’s gonna be good!

Oh yeah.. I’ve also got plans in the works with my super awesome roommate for decor and cocktails for Tiki Oasis ‘09

I’ve severely neglected posting about the Tiki Bar TV DVD release party…

In a few short words, it was awesome, it had an open bar, and I was not the DD. You can fill in the blanks :)

Heading in a lil’ early @ The Tonga Hut. Ok, a lot early. So early that the PR girl assigned to work the event thought we might be the cast…

I see you shiver with antici…..pation [now I have to go listen to the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack!]

Being hot ladies at a tech event has it’s advantages…

Having an appreciation for all things Tiki comes in handy sometimes,
like that one time when I was walking down Ivar in the middle of the night….

The internets are amazing and I have several reasons to believe so.

more about “Breaking It Up Video by Lykke Li – My…“, posted with vodpod

If you’re going abroad I can’t help you
If you’re crossing the street I might be there
If you give it a minute it’s gone
If you give it a minute it’s wrong
If we’re just waiting a second too long
Darling I’ll leave and you won’t come along
So give me the reason to stay
Give me the reason to wait
You know I don’t look to get caught
‘Cause darling we’re here but my true love is not
I’m breaking it up, before it’s on
Breaking it up, it’s already gone
Breaking it up, I didn’t mean to fraud
Breaking it up
